    Honestly, he is doing a pretty bad job. China economy is hurt worse than most by COVID, and China is becoming increasingly unpopular due to both economic and foreign policies, regarding for instance but not limited to Taiwan and the China sea.

    China’s central government has put on hold infrastructure projects in 12 provinces to prevent a further worsening the debt crisis.

    That’s not the way growth is created, 5% seems very unlikely considering the real estate market is collapsing, and the Chinese have stopped buying new cars. Those are 2 major indicators for how the economy is really doing.

    Hopefully Xi Jinping is thrown out soon, because he is absolutely harmful to China, and the progress there has been in relations between China and the west is waning.

    Some of the economists I follow on Twitter, like Noah Smith, are sceptical

    Mostly because the Chinese economy is not doing well
