I would highly recommend sharing this with anyone that you know that has had warranty/support issues with Asus any company in general✊

Hope this helps!

These assholes sent me two broken gpus on a warranty claim for a 2080s that died 8 months after purchase. They ghosted me after the second one arrived with one of the fans stuck at max rpm, after the first one arrived bricked. It took 3 months total for the process before they just stopped responding to me. They deserve any shit they have coming, fuck Asus.

Warranty is not the only problem. I ordered a Vivobook for a client. Upon arrival, I opened it up to see if there was space for a rusty disk. No space. Opening that thing was scary. I had the impression that it was going to break any minute. The thing is so flimsy it’s scary. I feels like it’s made out of a plastic pizza container and aluminum foil.

Thankfully we are in Europe, warranties here have teeth, and are 2 years minimum by law.

That’s not an ASUS specific thing at all. What modern laptops actually have 2.5" drives anymore? Very few actually.

Yes this is actually more disturbing.

Which Vivobook? It’s a wildly varied brand that ranges from factory made e-waste to decent.

I used to love Asus stuff. It’s sad they are crap now. Who are the good guys these days?

Asus used to be the Toyota of computing.

Nowadays I would recommend MSI or Lenovo.

MSI isn’t great in my experience for fully built stuff, Lenovo is relatively solid in the higher mid range. HP is also good hardware wise usually, at least it seems like they’re trying.

For components it depends what you need, gigabyte and asrock mobos are good. GPUs go for Sapphire or Zotac depending on your desired chip, or MSI if those aren’t available.

From the video, he highlighted Fractal Design and Arctic to be really really excellent.

However, while being in the PC parts industry, they don’t really overlap all that much with Asus.

Anecdotally I can say that BeQuiet for me has been superb. But again, they’re not really an Asus competitor. The closest would probably be MSI or Gigabyte, both of whom have had their own issues as well, though perhaps not as bad.

Asus displays are still excellent, but they’re probably a different branch
