Lately, no, but before 2020. Those criticisms have always been core to the experience at some level.
I was there 12 years ago, and last month stayed in the same area as then, so I was able to compare.
You complain about the smokers and then want even more French people there? 🙄

Good point! Because people can’t smoke inside any longer, they are all congregating outside all of the shops, restaurants, and stores and it’s a long path of smokers that one must walk-through as you go down the street.
This has to be trolling. Paris has come a long way since the late 90’s early 2000’s. The amount of work that has been put in to renovate the city, increase pedestrian areas, anti dog shit laws anti cigarette laws the massive clean ups. I am French and I love to shit on Parisians and their city but this is fucking disingenuous.

Maybe they should violently protest and burn the banlieu’s again. That should stop it.
