Ich bin mir nicht ganz sicher, wo genau ich am besten diese Diskussion anrege - deswegen frage ich erst einmal hier. Ich bin etwas entsetzt darüber, wie in /c/worldnews@lemmy.ml modieriert wird. Große Teile der Instanz ist meiner Meinung nach wie lemmygrad oder hexbear auf Tankie-Territorium, sodass ich das schon äußerst grenzwertig finde.

Ich frage mich, wie genau so etwas Konsequenzen haben kann. Feddit hat ja sowohl lemmygrad als auch Hexbear geblockt, nur ist Lemmy.ml um einiges größer und in vielen Teilen auch nicht problematisch. Würde man diese Instanz also blocken, würden da User*innen keinen Zugang mehr zu vielen Inhalten haben.

Ich frage mich jetzt ganz algemein, wie klärt man sowas im Fediverse, besonders im Bezug auf größere Instanzen? Also würden beispielsweise die Admins auf Feddit die Moderation auf Lemmy.ml problematisch finden, welche Möglichkeiten hätten sie in dem Fall “Druck” auf die Admins dort aufzubauen, ohne gleich zu deföderieren?

    Als jemand, der eine solche Entscheidung treffen musste, kann ich Ihnen sagen, dass Administratoren keine anderen Werkzeuge als die Defederation haben. Benutzer können einzelne Communities blockieren, aber als Administrator kann ich es mir nicht leisten, die nächste eingehende Welle von Spam/Csam/wasauchimmer zu übersehen.

      thanks for your reply! this is honestly something I’ve been wondering about. I think if bigger instances’ admins communicated together, they could put some pressure on lemmy.ml to change the way they moderate. Also, I would like to see a place where these issues can be discussed publicly

        I’m genuinely not sure it would work. The straw that broke the camel’s back for me was the sign up form asking to paste a sentense from some communist (Marx?) book. Those guys are fanatics, can’t see them agreeing to anything of the like. Lemmy.ml needs to go back to being a dev instance.

        As for where to hold such discussions - not sure. Naturally, I want to say my instance :D but it’s a moot point as the guys from .ml have proven numerous times they can’t take critisism, let alone change something more substantial like moderation.

          I don’t know, something that could work is a temporary defederation for, say, a week with the participation of several instances. That could either lead to changes with the conduct of admins/mods, or to a permanent defederation of these instances, and users unhappy with lemmy.ml could migrate over.

        You are aware that lemmy.ml is the original lemmy and it’s admins are the developers of lemmy (the software) who started this project to give a home to communists banned from reddit?
