The people upthread have a point. When I was explaining what Lemmy was to someone, when I mentioned the Lemmy.ml instance they asked why it had that extension and then pointed out that

Look, the actual definition of communism now has been distorted thanks to them culture of weird fascist-esque propaganda and weird romanticism of them so called ‘communists’ online and on 4chan/other parts of the web. There’s something that needs to be done (like make a clear line of which is which/what kind of spectrums are user X/Dev Y/community Z) before we let ourselves loose and turn into rabid right-wingers here.

They are not forcing me to. I’m just annoyed and tired of people just barking “this is harmful because x” without other definite proof aside from outdated Github docs and emotions.
