I know it sounds absurd but I was beyond fucked up when I learned that the Taliban is like a far more mundanely violent version of The Office. I swear to Allah, the piece lamented that their lives were boring and bureaucratic and they hated the responsibility that comes with being the G’s earthly enforcer/coordinator but the sense I got was that they had to glumly accept it.
