This isn’t new. They’ve always wanted this. The only new thing is that now they feel emboldened to actually do it.
And every single person who feels safe right now because this isn’t affecting them is in for a very rude awakening.
I live in Texas. I know these people. They think American = white, cis, straight, conservative. They will stop at nothing. They don’t care who gets hurt.
They believe it’s better for 10 members of the in-group to by punished than to let 1 member of the out-group live in peace, just as long as they’re not one of the 10.
