Linux foundation and a number of big names in tech commit top talent and invest on RISC-V. The companies that support this initiative are, among others, Google, Intel, MediaTek, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Red Hat, Samsung, SiFive, etc.

    I don’t know much about RISC-V. Will it require apps to build RISC-V versions alongside arm and X86?

      Yes, it would. Probably not an issue for fundamental things like coreutils, but I imagine none of the proprietary software would bother doing it until a critical mass is reached.
