The UN passed a resolution for an immediate ceasefire like a week ago…

It did as much as Biden’s hollow words will now.

Cut of all aid and weapons sales to Israel and they might listen, anything else won’t do anything

I think the problem is that US invested heavily in Israel for many decads so its very difficult to do something that could result in Israel switching alliance

You have that backwards. AIPAC has invested in US politicians for decades. The money we send there comes right back into our politician’s pockets. Biden received the most at 5 million to his campaigns.

Then there are weapons PACs. Military-Industrial Complex has every establishment politician by their grey, short, and curlies.

Fuck this world. Fuck the USA. Fuck Israel. Fuck this aggression on Palestinian civilians.

Israel does not benefit the U.S. in any way. We have NATO nations nearby and even bases in Kuwait. And that’s in addition to all the carriers in the Med. They offer no strategic advantage.

We have no special financial investments with them. We do the same kind of trade we do with any other countries. A relationship with Israel offers us absolutely no financial benefit. None.

Our relationship is a favor to them, motivated mostly by religious mythology about the christian end-times that U.S. politicians are obsessed with. It’s the dumbest of all possible reasons and no one will say it out loud in the news.

We need to defund this shit. And we need to help the victims.

To who? They’re almost universally hated by any nation around them, they’ve only made it this far with the US government hemorrhaging cash and arms to maintain a foothold.

Russia comes to mind. They’d accept Israel if they could benefit from it. Also Bibi get to be a plain old dictator without worrying too much about response from western allies. In exchange Russia get access to lot of western tech.

Unlikely as Russia is heavily in bed with Iran.

Israel is a giant liability. It really doesn’t do much except control news networks and bribe politicians.

But Russia only got “to bed” with Iran recently when Iran agreed to supply them with drones.

Before Ukraine war, Russia didn’t care about Iran or North Korea.

If Israel could supply Russia with more advanced drones / weapons, I assure you Russia would switch alliance in a blink of an eye

That’s part of it - they don’t want to lose their investment. The other part is that if they do stop propping up Israel, they know another country like Russia or China will happily fill the void and reap all the benefits of the influence in the region. The US could cut ties and not be involved at all but it’s not likely it would change much, unfortunately; Israel would just continue with new backers and the US would be in a worse position.

Not that that justifies the war and all the weapon sales on the US’ part, of course. But I think, with that information, it’s easy to see why there’s some nuance to it, and why the US isn’t keen to sever ties or be too harsh a critic.

Look at what Biden does, not what he says:

    • He just sent to Israel a shipment of 2000lb bombs, which raze entire quarters and are not used by the US itself because they’re “too dangerous for civilians”.

It’s still doing the very same delay and dissemble talkie-talkie for the purposes of not losing the election he has been doing for 3 months.

I have no doubt his “warning” to Netanyahu came with a wink and a nod.

I think Biden should stop funding Isreals genocide. Anything else is just lip service. Either shut up or do the right thing.

Lip service prolongs the discourse which is just another flub from the Biden campaign.

Sorry, Joe, I can’t carry your ass over the finish line.

I voted for Biden and this whole situation pisses me off. You can’t wait until 33k Palestinians are killed and innocent aid workers are killed to call for a cease fire but still arm Isreal. I’m now a Libertarian. Thanks Biden…

Hamas has already proposed a ceasefire since day 1.

Israel is the only party refusing a ceasefire.

Naah, that’s not true. Hamas is blocking every ceasefire with impossible demands. Since forever, not just day one or whatever the number. Quite easy talking without evidence this is. Normally I’d bother producing links and stuff, but when I do you folks go “fake news”, “not to be trusted”. Well, this is good enough obviously.

No the Hamas demands are extremely reasonable. Prisoner swap and permanent ceasefire.

Israel just demands they get to continue Genociding after a temporary ceasefire which is an idiotic proposal.

How is it extremely reasonable? They want full withdrawal from Gaza and pretending like nothing happened, then they get to negotiate who they let go for kidnapped people at a stupid ratio. Terrorist organization wants to not only remain in power but full withdrawal of far more powerful enemy and then even strengthen their ranks by exchanging for hostages they took when causing the whole mess. That’s never going to happen. Hamas is history, one way or another and the sooner they realize that the sooner people stop suffering.

Ceasefire doesn’t work with Hamas. They always use the time to arm more and cause more suffering for all parties involved.

You are right israel should release their 3000+ hostages unconditionally. It’s hard for Hamas to trust them since israel has already broken the previous deal and re-kidnapped many people from the previous swap.

Israel is a giant terrorist organization that needs to be disbanded as fast as possible.

Strange how israel kidnaps those 3000+ Palestinians and imprisons them without any charges. And tortures them while they are kidnapped. You should send them your amazing evidence that you most definitely have so they can be convicted.
