The NYC/MTA budget was calculated based on congestion revenue. The budget hole this creates is a huge problem. This was a capitulation that probably won’t win Gov. Hochel any votes, but it certainly will throw NYC tax and budgets in disarray. Twenty-five years in the making, and she chickens out 3 weeks before. I’m just shaking my head.

Long term, NYC ain’t going anywhere. Those businesses will be there. The city isn’t going anywhere. Transitioning away from cars when we’ve invested billions into them sucks, but the transition from ICE to EVs (and fewer cars) is happening now and is the best possible time to do it, before we have to rebuild roads, bridges, and crash barriers for much heavier EVs. Taking as many cars off the road with trains, buses, and lots of protected bike lanes will save us a lot of money further down the road (heh), even if it sucks short term.

        FTFY. The priorities were backwards.

Unfortunately it’s basically impossible to have an EV in the city unless you own your home or can pay $700+/mon for a garage, and ~90% of residences here are owned by corporations

Noone likes Hochul or Adams. Ten years ago they’d be Republicans, but the overton window just keeps sliding. Adams especially, he’s a real piece of shit who needs to disappear into NJ.
