No mods. Full stop. On console I play the game as it comes. I just don’t have the energy for mods.

I try to in PC but it takes me so long to search for and install mods and get different versions to work with each other. It gets to the point where I don’t even play.

So yeah. For me vanilla is out of the box.

At the most it’s making the game pretty and nothing else.

  • I guarantee you will never find a game like the Return of the Obra Dinn. Never. It’s a shame that I will never ever be able to re-experience playing it for the first time again. If I could erase my memory of it to play again I would.

Unheard is another good one. It scratches the itch after you’ve played Obra Dinn and you’re clamoring for more. It depends on proximity and sound and attention to detail to play and solve. Amazing.

Gorogoa is absolutely amazing and beautiful. It’s a puzzle game you will appreciate as a designer. It uses perspective. Gorgeous.

  • I’m always looking for analogies. Even if they don’t work that well lol. This one reminded me a lot of my first level digital photography class.

Most of us had artistic experience before we even walked in. We were expected to all have a good quality expensive camera from the get go.

And we took really good pictures! With time we got so much better using the same instrument we started with.

I would say that analogy is a way of playing that’s valid. It’s especially good for casual or beginner DND player.

On the other hand, our professor had a camera body that they added components to as needed. It was crazy all the cool things they had at their disposal from different places! So a vet photographer might find it a normal and necessary, perhaps, to customize their tools of the trade.

I consider this like a DND veteran or someone who wants a serious experience.

    Hope that made sense.

  • I used the good old toaster in our closed department one morning just like always. But that morning my toast caught fire!

My coworker put it out but the smell of burning toast permeating the entire floor of the building. Where the public walks around.

Of course I hear “is something burning?” “Mommy I smell toast!” Etc.

We pretended it didn’t happen when security came around. “What? I smell it too! That’s so weird!”

Needless to say toasters were banned after that. We ended up getting a small toaster oven that’s better quality. Probably still not allowed but we like to live on the edge.
