I was interested in the game, but for me the problem really was the skill level of the player base. Getting killed 20 times before getting a kill is no fun at all. I played during the test period, and I think it definitely would be fun with other noobs, but every game just has people in it who are miles above the rest.

Not a fan. I totally understand the need for climate protests, we’re way too slow. And I also het that you’re not gonna get headlines with a small protest somewhere. But why not disrupt things that are actually polluting, instead of throwing soup or paint at works of art. You’ll also make enemies by blocking a major road or something, but at least it makes some sense.

Yeah it’s pretty bad. People harassing actors and other people involved is disgusting. I’m also not the biggest fan of some of the new content, but sometimes it seems like a significant portion the fanbase just wants to hate on everything.

As someone who went on a run before breakfast this morning: I feel like the penguin on the right most of the time. I’m barely keeping up with my chores and social life, I reduced my working hours to 36 per week because 40 was too much. Being able to go on a run is one of the few things I am sort of keeping up with.

I might misunderstand what you mean with “implementing” an LLM, but unless you have a good understanding of deep learning and math I wouldn’t recommend to implement one from scratch. There’s a lot of complex math involved in these kind of topics. If you mean implementing an application around an existing LLM, for example writing a chat website that interfaces with ChatGPT or a local LLM, then it’s doable (depending on you current skills).

Ever since getting COVID in 2020 my nose is basically 2 like 70% of the time. Painfully dry, completely useless at filtering anything. It depends greatly on the humidity and temperature though. In spring/summer it tends to behave a bit better.

I’d like to think that I’d spend the work time on my hobbies. But realistically I’d spend most of the day watching YouTube videos and reading Lemmy because “I have to go to the store later so I can’t start something big now”. I’d definitely spend more time on my own programming projects, music production, running (or maybe other sports), and gaming though.

Sounds cool. The types like Haskell’s data types or Rust’s enums compared with proper pattern matching are pretty much a requirement for a good language imo. And the process/message passing is interesting.

But we also don’t call our language “Dutch”, we call it Nederlands. It’s a relic of an old time, but actually German should be called Dutch and Dutch should be Netherlandish. It’d help a lot with the confusion of young German and Dutch people learning English for the first time haha. Would also resolve the confusion around “Pennsylvanian Dutch” being German.

Dutch is such a weird one. We don’t call ourselves “Dutch” in Dutch, we call ourselves “Nederlands”. This would be something like “Netherlandish” in English. We do call Germans “Duits” though, and they call themselves “Deutsch”. Somehow in English German and Dutch got a bit messed up. The reason is probably that during the middle ages we did refer to our language as “Dietsch”, so that probably stayed around.

It’s still pretty scary though. The far right wasn’t usually this close to the top. It’s like whole political center has been obliterated. Which, to be fair, is something they kinda caused themselves. People have lost trust in the government and are more and more just putting their faith in populists. I’m happy we’re at least somewhat matching that with a progressive/left/green vote, but still, scary times.

Because sometimes people get violent with guns/fireworks and it’s quite useful to have some protection?

I’m not so sure that the laypeople will, but I do expect a shift. Personally I’m still running Windows 10 next to Linux currently. Most of my time is still spent on Windows, because it’s generally a bit more stable and hassle free due to the Windows monopoly. Software is written for Windows, so sadly it’s usually just a better experience.

But so many things I read about Win 11 (and beyond) piss me off. It’s my computer, I don’t want them to decide things for me or farm my data. I’m mentally preparing for the transition to Linux-only. 90% of the software I use will work out of the box, and I think with some effort I can get like 8% of the rest to work. It’ll be a lot of effort, but Micro$oft has pushed so far that I’m really starting to consider.

Multiple friends and colleagues (all programmers) I spoke are feeling the same way. I think Linux may double in full-time desktop users in a few years of this goes on.

I generally feel like my sense of smell is quite bad. There’s not really a lot of smells that I hate abnormally, probably due to the reduced sense of smell. I do like gasoline smell just like you, but honestly I thought that that was normal.

Maybe you should learn how to hold a normal discussion without attacking the other party. Cursing and telling the other party to fuck off just because they disagree with you will not convinced anyone of anything and will only make you look bad. It’s not like the person you’re responding to is advocating for school shootings or anything else immoral.
