Yeah totally. I don’t think they intentionally made decisions in that way. I just don’t think those game design concessions aged well. Thankfully we can work with them now though. You’re right though that the animations in the disc era really padded battle lengths. Jeez, just thinking of using summons in the FF series is giving me flashbacks lol.
So Xi didn’t make himself leader for life? And he doesn’t exert significant control over China’s government?
I totally understand the limitations of the time and still love the games, but really that doesn’t take away from the fact that these games require a ton of time to complete. Newer JRPGs take this into account and attempt to address it in various ways which I very much appreciate.
Fully recommended playing emulated with a speed mode. None of the old jrpgs respect your time and I legit can’t play them without that feature anymore.
Idk, this isn’t simply about making and selling a widgit or service. It’s an interesting other in which the vast majority of the product and service is created and run by the same users. Reddit just creates a space but people don’t really care about the space generally. They care about what happens in the space that the users create and moderate. The users can just find another hangout which could eliminate the need for the space.
Sweet build but also, you have a fantastic kitchen
Yeah I agree and am working on it in terms of engagement. Usability is going to be key for whichever platform eventually takes over. It could absolutely be Lemmy, but I’m watching for other possibilities as well.
The reality is that there was/is no reddit alternative and right now we’re all in this transitory phase where we’re all looking for a new home. We’ll all just have to wait for the dust to settle. Lemmy isn’t perfect but is improving and additionally other alternatives like kbin and tildes are in the works.
To your larger point, much of what you’re feeling is the abrupt break in habits. I’ve been using the gap to develop more positives ones, and it’s been great.
So as a complete layman I’m interested in the cost to get into it. Like if you had to estimate the initial upfront investment how much would you say it is?
Its things like this that make me want a 3d printer. I’ve currently got a broken valance that just barely holds the top cover and it drives me nuts. I’m just to proud to go and buy a $4 bag of replacements :p
You’d be surprised how many company decisions are made by CEO A just reading news of CEO B doing a thing and just also wanting to do it.
Dude I don’t wanna think about cleaning a machine like that… or rather the lack of cleaning…
Yeah I hate this and usually the menu is just a huge PDF you have to zoom in on and move around.
GIVE ME BACK MY DAMN 3.5MM HEADPHONE JACK ON MY PHONE!!!
Great work on the updates!
I do have a feeling that the “x users / month” stat with each instance on the instance list under sells activity on instances. Might I suggest displaying total users as well? Perhaps even posts and comments to further illustrate overall usage to a perspective user.
Yeah once I discovered the general lean of that instance, I made a decision to make my account over at Beehaw given the more inclusive policies and structure. I’d direct more users to either sign up there or consider creating a new instance.
To your point, they are entitled to their leanings and I welcome that (also follow some of their communities), but overall I don’t think it’s a great first representation of whats possible on Lemmy.
I think it can encourage unintended behaviors like karma farming.
I’ve seen similar trends in some FPS games in which during immediate game play your kill to death ratio is hidden to keep people engaged with the main loop instead of getting worked up over their stats.
