I’ve been there and it almost killed me. It wasn’t money that got me (that much), but the lack of time and sleep. I’d live by vending machine junk and naps in the car between jobs.

All of the above, and I ran into some bugs in Datagrip that when I reported them I was blown off and gaslit in the response. The response to the bug report was something like “No one does things like this, and even if they did it isn’t important” MF, I DO IT, and it was important enough for me to report the bug! That was enough for me to not renew our licenses for our team when it was time to re-up.
None of my PinePhone owning friends say it’s “quite there yet” to be a daily driver. I have been asking them every six months if it’s time to take the plunge.
I must be the only one that actively dislikes Jetbrains products.
This was in FL too, this guy walked the walk I guess.
Sadly all the branches have one at the schools. I made the mistake of taking the ASVAB test in high school to get out of class, scored well and was hounded by all of these guys. The marine recruiter showed up at my house carrying a CRT TV/VHS combo to try and convince me to join lol
Thank you for convincing me to replay Morrowind!
That’s very impressive for that price, though I am highly skeptical of those framerates since my PC has better specs and doesn’t get that without some serious compromises in settings. How are you getting a Windows Pro license for $19? I use linux 99% of the time, but I’d love to have a pro license on the cheap.
Since you’re serious, I’d be very curious to see the part list for this if you have the time. I am quite aware of current prices and GPU prices are currently still rather bonkers, even with sales.
Sorry to dig up this old reply, just saw it. The original Model Ms were also buckling spring over membrane, you’re thinking of the Model F. And yes, you can get replacement membranes from Unicomp for older Model Ms.
You aren’t getting a “pretty good” gaming PC for $600-$700, be serious now. That doesn’t invalidate most of your other points, but your exaggerations weaken your message.
If you liked Snow Crash, give Diamond Age a try.
The 90s Scooby Doo cartoons were pretty awful cash grabs and a far cry from even the first, what 3-4 Scooby shows. Everything from Scrappy Doo until the 2000s reboot (Mystery Inc, which my kids LOVED) was junk.
Sublimetext technically fits the bill for this I think, but its feeling a bit long in the tooth.
My expensive vinyl double hung windows in my previous house actually had a casement-like feature and I could easily remove either part. I loved those windows; I wish I could have taken them with me.
My previous area was like that, and that was why I didn’t bother getting a battery system for my solar. And the connection fee went up, and up, and up.
I am pretty happy with QuiteRSS. Has a built in browser with adblocking, but easy right click options to open tan external browser. Easy to set up feeds and filters.
It might actually outlast your Model M. The membranes on the Model M seems to be the thing that has died for me (after like 20+ years mind you). I frequently still use my Leopold from 2009 and its rock solid.
If you can’t find it, it is nearly always super cheap on GOG.
I also never found the Aeron comfortable on my back, though I also saw tons of them break in our office which seems weird and not a common experience. The most comfortable office chair I’ve owned was from HON. It was their “pillow soft” high back executive chair. I still have mine after several years, but I had to transition to a mostly standing desk recently, so I’m not using it currently.
