I’ve literally heard people defend their casual use of words like f*g, r*tard, and autistic as “it’s just part of the culture, they’re not actually trying to be offensive!”
First of all, 100% of 4chan users would disagree with that and very proudly assert that they are in fact trying to be offensive. Second of all, even if they weren’t, being part of a culture doesn’t justify anything by itself. Pop culture, which is what 4chan’s “culture” is, can be and routinely are highly toxic and offensive.
Hopefully it’s just 4chan lingo. However I’ve learned not to give Anon the benefit of the doubt most times.
Also, “just” 4chan lingo includes a whole lot of absolutely awful language.
